Role: UX/UI Designer

Tools: Figma

Year: 2025

Overview

Lumo is a responsive finance app designed to make money management feel calm, simple, and empowering. It reimagines traditional dashboards by transforming complex data into clear, human-centered insights that reduce stress and promote confidence.

Challenge

Most finance apps overwhelm users with data-heavy screens and technical jargon. Through interviews and co-design sessions, I discovered that users wanted reassurance, emotional clarity, and easy-to-understand feedback rather than endless numbers.

Process

Using participatory design and iterative testing, I developed low to high-fidelity prototypes focusing on clarity, accessibility, and emotional tone. Each stage included feedback from users of different ages and abilities to ensure inclusivity and trust.

Understanding the Issue

Through interviews and co-design sessions with users of different ages and financial confidence levels, I discovered common frustrations with existing finance apps.

  • Users felt overwhelmed by cluttered dashboards and dense data.

  • Many lacked trust in automated tools and preferred simple, reassuring summaries.

  • Visually heavy interfaces increased stress rather than promoting control.

Defining the Problem

Users needed a financial dashboard that supports clarity, emotional reassurance, and accessibility. The goal was to design a system that simplifies information without sacrificing insight or inclusivity.

Brainstorming Solutions

I designed low- to high-fidelity prototypes, focusing on emotional tone and usability.

  • Clear dashboard layout combining spending, savings, and trends in one view.

  • Soft colours and rounded components to create a calm and trustworthy atmosphere.

  • Adaptive accessibility features such as scalable fonts, contrast modes, and larger tap zones.
